Air stewardesses slam raunchy airline ads
One of the biggest trade unions representing flight attendants in Australia has demanded that airlines stop depicting female cabin crew as sexual objects.
The Flight Attendants Association of Australia (FAAA) singled out two recent marketing campaigns by Russian airlines which it said were “demeaning” to air stewardesses.

Speaking to The Australian newspaper, union official Jo Ann Davidson commented: “Such suggestive advertising portraying cabin crew as part of the product they are selling sends wrong messages and puts cabin crew at risk of sexual harassment and abuse.”
Russian flag carrier Aeroflot also came under fire for releasing a calendar which features
“It is a sad reflection of the attitude of the airlines’ executives – dare I say more than likely middle-aged males – towards cabin crew, in particular female cabin crew, by portraying them in such a demeaning, distasteful and irrelevant manner,” Ms Davidson added.
The FAAA has vowed to take the matter up with the International Transport Federation as it fears the campaigns may encourage passengers to behave inappropriately towards air stewardesses.
But the group made no mention of Ryanair, which last month also unveiled plans to release a 2011 calendar of naked cabin crew. The carrier also hit the headlines in February when it emerged that one of its flight attendants, Edita Schindlerova, is an
